Jane Walker's (an ex Jehovah's Witness) Discovery of Truth

I was brought up a Jehovah's Witness with my twin sister and younger sister from the age of 5-15 years. It was a strict regime but knowing no different I was quite happy. As a JW we were encouraged to attend five meetings a week and my mother would study the 'Watchtower' Literature with us after school. I went from door to door with my parents from an early age and was soon confident to speak to people myself on the doorstep. I felt that the JWs had an answer for everything. I knew the 'New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures' (JW Bible) upside down and inside out.

However; I was soon to learn that I could also have a relationship with the author of this Holy word also. For ten years of knocking on doors my experience was that most people would say 'No Thank-you' or 'I've got my own religion,' or 'I'm Catholic, Methodist, Anglican etc'. Occasionally people would listen, we would call back, take a bible study and they would become interested even becoming a Jehovah witness. Not once did I ever hear anyone tell of what Jesus had done for them. Therefore when my father had occasion to meet with a Christian on a train who expressed real interest and concern for him and who wanted to study the scripture with us, I was surprised. It was arranged that, as a family, we would study scripture together at his home. We did so for several months. The single most important factor in my heart was that this man truly loved God, he testified to what God had done in his life and was a shining example of the Grace of God. I had never heard the power of a personal testirnony in ten years of going door to door! Surely personal testimony to the facts of what God has done for us is ‘Powerful!’ To cut a long story short we left the JWs, believing their, teachings to be false, they were false prophets who gave many false prophecies, which never came to pass. Later we all became Born again Christians recognising the truth that only 'Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.' John 14:6 and the only means of salvation for all mankind. Other families joined us in the exit and l can now say that I know God has always got his hand upon my life!

I met my husband at this Christians church, married, have four sons and my husband was called to the ministry. He has been a Pastor of a church in Tilbury and Epping for 16 years. I am a nurse and practising midwife. When I put my hands on a new baby’s head I pray a blessing on them believing that God knows us even in our mother’s womb! His purposes will be worked out in our lives. I now have a living relationship with Jesus my saviour and I believe that the personal testimony of a true believer is powerful! If you are approached by a Jehovah's witness on your doorstep or elsewhere don't just say 'No-Thanks' or 'I've got my own religion,' testify to what God has done in your own life - it is powerful and can set another captive free - Just like me! If you are involved in the JWs then you need to get out of it and into a church that teaches the truth about Christ that can set you free.

JESUS IS THE WAY TO KNOW GOD. HE IS THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE. THERE IS NO OTHER WAY
