November 1999

What a privilege it was last month to be able to take assemblies in all of our local infant & junior schools (over 900 children).  This was then followed by the sixth annual children's week when some 25% of all local children attended.   Well done to those who worked so hard for this event to be a success.  Let us all aim to encourage the young of this generation to find the real foundation there is in trusting in the Lord.

As a Church we are aiming to increase our support for children locally through our Sunday morning work.  Please pray for this work and our Sunday School leader Linda in particular, get involved if you can!

It's great to know that when we are faced by the challenges that life always throws our way, we are following a God who provides practical, hands on help.

He is not like the managing director of a steel works I heard of.   Who noticing one of his employees shoes was falling apart.  Pointed out this was dangerous and suggested that the employee buy a new pair.  The man looked hopeful when the boss produced a fat wad of 20 notes from his pocket.  Removing the thick rubber band from around the notes, the director handed it to the man.  "This will stop the sole flapping." He said.

When the challenges of life come and things may even seem to be falling apart, let us turn to the Lord Jesus Christ who will give more than a temporary solution but rather will provide eternal life and be with us to practically help each and every day
