Welcome to the August edition of Living Waters. Trusting this summer edition finds you and yours resting, recuperating and enjoying the wonderful world in which we live. Wherever you travel may you know a safe and pleasant journey.Special thoughts with those out on mission work from the home Church here in Epping, may they experience growing FAITH and the FIRE of the Spirit, but know that though distant we regard them as very much part of the FAMILY here.

As a family we shall be away for a couple of weeks at the end of the month, in Spain. We intend to try driving our car down all the way (some 1200 miles each way!), so as a FAMILY we are going in FAITH! When there we are looking forward to meeting up with the Born Again Christians at the Elim Church in Javea .This month is also special for Jane and myself as we celebrate 20 years marriage on the 19th! (Did someone say you look too young?)

As we head for Autumn it is good to be able to look ahead to fresh events. These include a new WAY OF THE SPIRIT course, an ALPHA course linking in with a national initiative, plus many inspiring visiting speakers and ministries.  We are also seeking to get a team together for a fuller Sunday school programme, plus continuing to pray and fund raise for a Church family minibus.

I believe there are those ready to take the step of Baptism as well as Church membership.  If that is you please let Ian Enderby or myself know, there are request forms for baptism and membership at the Church.

A few weeks ago when we held a day of prayer and fasting, the Lord laid a verse from Psalm 11 v 3 on my heart - "When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?"  The answer for the believer is much. Can I highlight four things from the evening gathering-

i) PRAY FOR THE NATION - Cf. Daniel 9 v 3-5, 1 Timothy 2 v 1-4.

ii) SPEAK OUT AGAINST WICKEDNESS - Cf. Eph.5 v 11-13, 6 v12.

iii) BE SALT AND LIGHT IN THE WORLD - Matthew 5 v 13-20.

iv) STAND UP FOR CHRIST - Ex. 32 v 26, Mk. 8 v 38.
