September 2001

Summer is slipping away behind us. Autumn will soon be appearing and farmers will be assessing how the year past has gone for them (& haven’t they had some trials) as well as planning ahead for the coming year. Do pray for the farming community!

Like the farmers it is good for us to assess our circumstance and progress. Also to plan ahead. As a part of our planning can I both encourage you to both be involved in the activities recommencing after the summer e.g. Encouragement groups recommencing on Thursday mornings and Monday’s oasis youth event. As well as to begin to pray and plan to get involved in the ALPHA Course beginning on 2nd October, leading worship beginning 10th and Children’s Week beginning 22nd.

The 30th of September sees us celebrating and giving thanks at another harvest Thanksgiving Service. We are truly blessed in so many ways, but don’t you find as a society we seem to be getting less and less thankful? For the Christian, the Bible reveals one of the keys to Peace is to give thanks to God in all circumstances! Not an easy thing yet we are encouraged – “ in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus!”
