"The purpose of my recent trip was to check how the
children were getting on in the two beautiful new apartments which they
have been living in since January. I am delighted to inform you that the
houses are being run wonderfully and the children are of the most happy
I have ever met in Romania.
They are being looked after in a family way, rather
than the regimental way they were used to in the orphanage. They are
clean, tidy, fed and cared for, and have the biggest smiles on their
faces. They have rules, i.e. they have to come in for tea and are not
allowed to roam the streets in the dark, yet they are allowed their
freedom at the same time.
I am now completely convinced that we have done the
right thing. We have purchased two apartments, and the social services
have managed to purchase five more, which is a massive achievement for
them. They think that they will need three more to rehouse every orphan
in this orphanage. I am pleased to say that we have again managed to
collect most of the money for one of the remaining three.
So my letter is again to say thank you very much to you all for your
help, and to assure you that your donated money has been kept safe and
every penny will be used on the third ‘Johnny England House’.
Best regards,
Jackie Davis
